Life Slips Like Sand From Hands — Some Profound Thoughts
The little time we have on Earth seems to pass both slowly and quickly at the same time. We are composed of fleeting moments spent with our family, friends, and colleagues. There’s only one destination ordained since we take the first step here — sooner or later, each of us will turn into the sand from which we are made.
Nonetheless, one cannot spend these fleeting moments merely awaiting the end. Embracing each and every moment we get might be the best way to expend our energy. Considering enjoyment as a means to always be happy does not fully capture the true essence of the statement, but rather offers a vague interpretation of something profound.
A happy life is often misperceived as a continuous state of bliss or joy, where one never feels sadness, misery, or pain. This, however, is blatantly wrong. Humans are made up of all these emotions, and they play an important role in maintaining the equilibrium of our mental state.
Disney’s Inside Out beautifully portrays how both positive and negative emotions have their roles at different moments in time. Therefore, living a happy life doesn’t equate to an ‘always-jolly life.’ It means being resilient and anti-fragile in the face of adversity.
Whenever you encounter something beyond your control, with the potential to disrupt your life irrevocably, the power of resilience will keep you composed and stable. Those who can’t control their emotions and react hysterically against the odds are likely to fail to realize their true potential.
They lose the power to rise up against the things they have little control over. Life is too short to dwell on these aspects. Instead, enjoy what you have, where you are now, and how you wish to be. There’s no approved or given formula for a good life. Life is all about experimentation, trying many things to gain valuable experiences.
